about

Esther Krohner, LMFT: Transformative Therapy for Tangible Results

I help people who are stuck in complex relationships find clarity, change communication, take action and create confidence. Together we’ll untangle what is keeping you stuck and build on your strengths to create real lasting change. If you're looking for therapy that's compassionate, practical and focused on helping you move forward, I'd love to help.

Are We A Good Fit?

When life has been turned upside down by conflict,  loss or other difficult experiences, it's important to know that your therapist can sit alongside you with both compassion and expertise. Opening up isn't easy, and you deserve someone who understands the complexities of real life.

My experiences have given me a deep appreciation for life's messiness. My extensive professional training enables me to make sense of complex situations and help couples,  teenagers and families find practical, meaningful ways to grow and change.

Working with me, you can trust you will get a hands-on and results-oriented therapist driven to find the shortest path to your desired change. My mission is to help you access your strengths and resources in life’s hardships. With every session you will gain more clarity and confidence to handle life’s ups and downs.

teens

Growing up is hard, there is so much information to sift through. I am not here to tell your teen what to do (I’m sure you’ve already tried that). Instead I become an ally who helps them find healthier ways to express their experience, build peer relationships and earn trust with their parents. In this process we also look at developing healthy habits and impulse control to help them reach their goals.

I support teens and their families with.

• Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or isolating.

• School refusal.

• Frequent fights, inflexiblity, aggression.

• Social isolation. Low confidence.

• Self harm.

• Communication problems.

When fights are increasing, nobody feels seen or heard and it's hard to find goodwill to repair. Oftentimes the good intentions lead to even more frustration and escalation. Therapy can provide the space for having hard conversations, help disrupt the vicious cycles of defensiveness, giving you courage to be vulnerable and loving with each other again.

I support couples wanting  change in these areas:

• Communication: escalating conflict, cultural differences, blended families.

• Parenting:neurodivergent kids, different parenting styles/culture, co-parenting through divorce.

• Stress: worklife balance and household tasks.

• Life transitions: birth, career changes, loss and grief.

• Addiction.

• Divorce.

• Infidelity.

parents

Parents come wondering if parenting is supposed to be so hard. It can be hard when we are convinced to follow a single parenting style at all life stages and in all situations. Together we’ll find ways to parent more effectively while staying true to yourselves. I believe when every parent is honored for their unique connection style, there’s less tension and cooperation comes more easily.

I guide parents through:

• Behavior Challenges and Power Struggles

(including neurodivergence, aggression, school refusal and cooperation).

• Teens: responsibility, screens, addictions, self harm and mood problems.

• Intense emotions like tantrums, anxiety and demand avoidance.

 • Sibling Arrival.

 • Parenting Conflict (yelling, fights, inconsistency, constant negativity).

• School, attention and developmental problems

Testimonials

I started seeing Esther when my husband and I were fighting all the time. I could see it was impacting our children and I felt very stuck. My husband did not want to go to therapy and Esther worked with  me to make changes and eventually my husband was willing to join. We worked on skills to stop fighting, address what we each wanted from one another and got a system going to deal with our kids when they were driving us apart. Esther helped us focus and target the main things and it was an incredible investment for our family.
